Sector Mobile! Sector Mobile, a command of the Eighth Coast Guard District, has an area of responsibility (AOR) that encompasses all or part of 4 states - Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. It stretches from the Pearl River, MS west to St. Marks, FL east, over 330 miles of coast and 1,700 miles of inland waterway. The Sector Commander is Captain Steven Poulin. To carry out its missions, the Sector is divided into three Departments: Prevention, Response, and Logistics.

Sector Mobile maintains over 4,200 aids to navigation, annually conducts over 1,200 search and rescue cases saving about 100 lives a year, assisting over 3,700 persons, protecting millions of dollars worth of property, and carrying out operations in support of homeland security and law enforcement.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Sector Mobile aided in the rescue of 24,000 people and assisted with the joint-agency evacuation of an additional 9,400 patients and medical personnel from hospitals in the Gulf coast region. More than 33,400 people were saved and evacuated during the hurricane response effort.
