Welcome to the home page of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, District Eight Coastal Region. Our organization is comprised of over 1900 men and women who are members of the greatest and largest volunteer marine organization promoting Recreational Boating Safety and assisting Team Coast Guard in a variety of missions. Our area of responsibility stretches from the panhandle of Florida to the State of New Mexico and includes Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and part of Georgia. The District encompasses nine divisions comprising 74 flotillas.

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard created by an Act of Congress in 1939. The Auxiliary, America’s Volunteer Guardians, supports the Coast Guard across nearly all of the service’s mission areas. The Auxiliary has over 30,000 members and continues to grow. We also partner with other federal, state, county, and local agencies as well as other government and private organizations in the community where we live and work and recreate.

We are a very diverse group and our members bring a variety of backgrounds, knowledge and skills resulting in a multi-talented organization that promotes safe boating and assisting the Coast Guard during normal and emergency situations. Some of our members have watercraft and airplanes that conduct safety patrols on the water but we also have members trained as Marine safety specialists, vessel examiners, instructors, public affairs, grant writers, radio communications, computer web masters, and boating program visitors. Our pilots and air observers help search for boaters in distress, floating hazards, identifying pollution spills, and assisting in security efforts along the Gulf coast.

If you have an interest in joining an organization where teamwork and camadarie are evident everyday, I encourage you to browse our website. Our members have joined for a variety of reasons; one is the contribution of their time and effort towards enhancing the homeland security and interacting with the public to promote boating safety. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member, click on the Contact us link and we will get in touch with you promptly. It’s a lot of fun and you will derive a great deal of satisfaction as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
