Auxiliarists on patrol

Welcome to the Program Visitor Program

Recreational Boating Safety is the Auxiliary’s core competency and core mission.  As the District Staff Officer for Program Visitors, I want to encourage everyone to actively participate in this program.   Last year, the Eighth District Coastal Region reported 6,568 program visits spreading the message about safe boating.  This is a great accomplishment and above the national average compared with the other Districts.

This year, increasing the number of Vessel Examiners can promote getting the word out and maximize the efficiency of the program.   Focus on “reaching out” to new customers and promote educational opportunities to incorporate them into the program.  Develop partnerships with other businesses and organizations to integrate them into our thought process.  They can “spread the word” about our RBS endeavors.

Another important area to work on is to maintain a high level of communication among all program visitors and other auxiliary programs.  A program visitor must be cognizant about new member recruiting, retention of current members, public education, vessel safety checks, member training, and public affairs.

The third objective for program visitors to work on is to encourage those program visitors in REYR and bring them back into the active mode.  A lot of members in REYR are great mentors and bring lots of experience for our new program visitors.  Utilize the expertise that these members bring in RBS.

Program Visitors derive a lot of satisfaction from the exposure resulting from the work they do.   Program Visitors are recognized for their sustained performance in the program visitation program and make a noteworthy contribution.  We have lots of opportunities for successes.   I hope to involve everyone to promote the RBS program.  Let’s all get involved and make the contributions that we are capable of achieving this year
