| Rear Commodores are elected by the District Board and
may serve for up to two years but are subject to reelection at the end
of their first twelve-month term. The Rear Commodore serves as the
Commodore’s representative to the Divisions served and in that capacity
works hand-in-hand with the Divisions’ leaders to answer questions that
come about, assist in solving problems confronted by the Divisions, and
do whatever is necessary from an administrative standpoint to enhance
the health of the Divisions. At the same time, the Rear Commodore
serves as the Auxiliary liaison to his/her assigned US Coast Guard
Sector or Sectors and as such either personally attends the monthly
Sector Commander meetings or has someone attend in the place of the Rear
Commodore. The area of responsibility (AOR) for the Rear Commodore –
East comprises those areas coming under Sector Mobile: Portions of
southwest Georgia, the Florida Panhandle, all of Alabama, and most of
Mississippi. The Auxiliary Divisions in this geographic area include
Divisions 1, 3, and 8, with Division 8 encompassing the largest
geographic area and that area recently expanded with Sector
